Terms of service
Last updated October 7, 2026. Also at app.budgetmuna.com/terms inside the app.
The short version
- BudgetMuna is a tool for keeping your own money records. It is not financial advice, and nobody at BudgetMuna checks your numbers for you.
- Basic is free. Pro is paid, and it never charges you by surprise: a period you have paid for simply runs out, and you decide whether to pay for another.
- What you enter stays yours. You can export it whenever you like, and delete your account yourself from Settings → Security.
- If a period lapses, nothing you have recorded is taken away — you keep your records and can still export them.
These terms
BudgetMuna is operated by [Company legal name], [Registered business address] ("BudgetMuna", "we", "us"). These terms are the agreement between you and us for your use of BudgetMuna, at budgetmuna.com and in the app.
By creating an account or using BudgetMuna, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. Our privacy policy explains what we hold and who receives it, and forms part of these terms.
You must be at least 18 to hold an account.
What BudgetMuna is, and what it is not
BudgetMuna is a record-keeping tool. You enter your accounts, transactions, envelopes, cards and loans, and it organises them, adds them up and draws them back to you. It is useful exactly to the extent that what you put in is accurate.
It is not a bank, and it does not connect to one. It moves no money, holds no money, and cannot pay a bill or a card for you. Marking a payment as made in BudgetMuna records that you made it; it does not make it.
Nothing in BudgetMuna is financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and nothing in it is a recommendation to take or avoid any particular decision. The summaries, charts, projections, schedules and suggestions it produces are arithmetic applied to what you typed. We are not licensed financial advisers, and no one at BudgetMuna reviews your records or your decisions. Where money matters, take advice from someone qualified and regulated to give it.
The figures BudgetMuna shows you can be wrong — because something was entered incorrectly, because a statement was read imperfectly, or because of a defect in our software. Check anything that matters against the statement or the account it came from. Decisions you make remain yours.
Your account
An account is for one person. Keep your password to yourself; if you sign in with Google, keep that account secure. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you, so tell us promptly if you think someone else has got in.
You can share your records with family or friends only by showing them yourself, or by exporting them. BudgetMuna has no shared or joint accounts: each account sees only its own records.
Please use a real email address you can receive mail at. It is how a password reset reaches you, and without it we cannot get you back into your account.
Plans, payment and renewal
There are two plans: BudgetMuna Basic, which is free, and BudgetMuna Pro, which is paid. What each one includes, and what Pro costs monthly and yearly, is on the pricing page. Pro includes a free trial, and the length of it is shown before you start.
Pro does not charge you automatically. There is no stored card and no recurring charge: you pay for a period, that period runs out, and paying for another is a thing you choose to do. We remind you in the app seven days before a period ends, and for seven days afterwards the period keeps working while you decide. After that it lapses to Basic.
Lapsing to Basic takes nothing away. Every record you have entered stays, and you can still read and export all of it. What Basic does is stop you adding beyond its limits — so if you are over a limit when a period lapses, nothing is deleted, but you will not be able to create more of that thing until you are under the limit or on Pro again.
Payments are taken by our payment provider, PayMongo. Your card or e-wallet details are entered on their page and never reach BudgetMuna. Their terms apply to the payment itself.
A period you have paid for is not refunded part-way through, and deleting your account does not refund it. Because nothing renews by itself, you are never charged for a period you did not choose to buy.
Prices can change. A change never affects a period you have already paid for; it applies to the next one you choose to pay, and the price is shown before you pay it.
Scanning statements and receipts
BudgetMuna can read a statement or receipt for you and turn it into transaction lines. This happens only when you press the button for that document: nothing is scanned in the background, and no document is sent anywhere unless you ask.
To do it, the document is sent to OpenAI, who read it and send back the lines. The privacy policy sets out what that means for your information and how long OpenAI may keep it. If you would rather no document left BudgetMuna, use the CSV import instead, which is read on our own servers.
Reading a document this way is not exact. Amounts, dates and descriptions can come back wrong, and lines can be missed or invented. That is why BudgetMuna shows you every line to review before anything is saved: the lines you approve are yours, and reviewing them is your part of the job.
Your records stay yours
Everything you enter or upload remains yours. We claim no ownership of it. You give us only the permission we need to run the service for you — to store your records, process them, show them back to you, and send a document to OpenAI when you ask us to scan it.
We do not sell your records, and we do not use them to train anyone's models. When your account goes, they go with it.
Only upload documents you are entitled to upload. A statement with someone else's details on it is their information as well as yours.
Using BudgetMuna fairly
Please do not:
- try to reach another person's account or records, or test our security without asking us first;
- scrape the service, or use it through anything other than the app and our own interfaces;
- resell BudgetMuna, or pass your account to someone else;
- upload anything unlawful, or anything you have no right to upload;
- send enough traffic to degrade the service for other people, or get around rate limits;
- copy the look, code or content of BudgetMuna to build something competing with it.
If you find a security problem, please tell us rather than use it — email us and we will take it seriously.
Availability
We work to keep BudgetMuna available and correct, but we do not promise any particular level of uptime. The service can be down for maintenance, for a fault, or because something it depends on is down. Features can change, and a feature can be withdrawn.
Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose. Exporting takes a moment and is always available, and it is the only thing that makes your records independent of us.
Exporting and leaving
You can export your records as CSV or PDF at any time, on any plan, without asking anyone.
You can delete your account yourself, from Settings → Security. Deletion is scheduled fourteen days ahead rather than done immediately: your account keeps working in the meantime, and you can call it off with one button. We ask you to type your email address, and your password where your account has one, before scheduling it.
When the fourteen days are up, your account and the records in it are deleted. That cannot be undone, and we cannot restore them afterwards, so export anything you want to keep first. Our privacy policy explains the timing for live systems and backups.
When we can suspend or close an account
We can suspend or close an account that is breaking these terms, being used unlawfully, or putting the service or other people at risk. Where it is practical and lawful to do so, we will tell you first and give you a chance to export your records.
We can also stop offering BudgetMuna. If we do, we will give reasonable notice so you can export your records, and will not charge for a period beyond it.
Liability
BudgetMuna is provided as it is. Beyond what the law requires of us, we make no warranty that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose, and we are not responsible for a decision you take on the strength of what it shows you.
Where our liability can lawfully be limited, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms as BudgetMuna changes. The date at the top says when they last changed. For a change that materially affects you, we will give notice in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use BudgetMuna after that means you accept the new terms; if you would rather not, you can export your records and delete your account.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines, and any dispute will be heard by the courts of [city of the registered address]. Nothing here takes away a right you have under consumer law that cannot be given up by agreement.
